For our country’s future economic growth, intercommunication with foreign countries has become crucial. In order to realize this successfully, we need to develop a network of personal contacts and strengthen mutual understanding and relationship. Although the current foreign students in Japan have great potential to become global leaders who will play a role to be a link between foreign countries and Japan in the future, many of them are having difficulty not only with a language barrier and difference in customs but also financially.
Asahi Foundation provides scholarships to those foreign students from ASEAN and other emerging countries that are diligent and excellent in their academic fields but facing financial difficulty. Aiming to help the foreign students, who have great desire to become a link to Japan as well as Toyama in the future, to concentrate on their academics, and hoping that they may contribute to global society, we came to establish this foundation.
